Possibilities abound aboard the Mini Pirate Tower. Designed to mimic the top of a pirate ship, children will be excited to explore. The central “deck” is around the center post. There are six arms that stick out at equidistant angles creating the perfect haven for ropes to drape. The ropes make up the a circular play area accentuated with these arms. To reach this main area, there are five points of access: two triangle rope climbers, a rubber climber with climbing ropes, and two rope ladders. Each ladder or climber presents a slightly different feel as kids work to reach the top. Underneath the main structure, two net seats are available for children to sit in.
The compact nature of this play structure offers a large number of developmental opportunities. Children will need to socialize and talk to each other to successfully play in such a busy space. Turn taking is essentially with only one or two places to do a specific activity. By nature of the rope construction of the tower, kids will be working harder than they would be on a solid surface. The ladders and climbers spread around the structure require a degree of lifting their own body weight while simultaneously balancing themselves. This requires a well-developed sense of both balance and strength.
Constructed out steel and polyester, this climber is sure to last. The center-most post is an 8-inch diameter steel post with a cap to keep the elements out. From the central post six additional support arms jut out. Attaching themselves to the arms are eight grids of 16mm ropes connected with high-density polyethylene fasteners. The ropes themselves are made up of 6 strands of steel and an inner fiber that are then wrapped in a cocoon of polyester fibers. The outside of the cord is then coated in a latex bonding agent. Adding the latex strengthens the rope from abrasions.
