Make playground mediation fun with the Peace Path. The Peace Path is a visual guide for children to work on their conflict resolution skills. Each step takes them closer to harmony as they come to a mutually beneficial solution. With enough use, children will be able to guide each other along the path to peaceful resolution.
Kids place their feet on the feet of the Peace Path and start by talking about what happened. Each child has a turn to tell each other how they perceived what happened. The next step is to discuss how they feel. Then children will switch places and think how they would have felt by standing in the other person’s spot. Next, the Peace Path guides them to think of solutions together. Once they have a solution, they make a plan to make it work. Finally, they have reached the last conflict resolution step noted with the “Congratulations!” across the top.
The Peace Path can be installed in a new or existing play area. Whether your playground has rubber mulch or wood mulch, it can be installed. No matter where it is put, it will be a ready tool for children and adults alike.
